Responsibilities:


- Can operate Any Linux Distro in Linux commandLine
- PHP, MySQL query
- Configure for MySQL and Apache
- Know about DNS
- Configure mail server (pop/smtp/imap)
- Get yourself standby anytime after working hour if any problem happen to the server
- Must have computer or internet access at home


- cPanel,Bash Script, Perl, c/c++ (Bonus)
- Experience with Dedicated or Co-Location server (Bonus)
- Know about server mirroring, replication and clustering(Bonus)
Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Primary/Secondary School/SPM/"O" Level in any field.

Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific (PAN AP)


Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific (PAN AP) is one of five regional centres of PAN International, a global network working to eleminate the human and environmental harm caused by pesticides and to promote biodiversity based ecological agriculture. We are committed to the empowerment of people. We are dedicated to protect the safety and health of people, and the environment from pesticide use and genetic engineering. We believe in a people-centered, pro-women development through food sovereignty, ecological agriculture and sustainable lifestyles.


INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

Information and communication are core areas of work for PAN AP whereby PAN AP receives information, adding value to it and then makes it available to network partners and other groups. There is additionally a campaigning component, where information provided by PAN AP alerts recipients on issues, mobilizes action in support of campaigns; and supports local groups and motivates action. PAN AP’s information outreach currently spans regional partners and networks, an extended global list of interested groups as well as a fairly extensive list of mainstream and alternative media contacts. Ongoing methods employed for outreach on our core programme areas include an email-information service; alerts; an occasional feature service; e-newsletters; as well as our website. PAN AP also maintains a library, and archives related to PAN AP’s core programme areas.



Information & Communication Officer

Responsibilities:

As reflective of the maturity and development of PAN AP, there is a need to focus, consolidate and develop our media and communications strategies, and information management. PAN AP aims to become a more comprehensive information provider, and communicate and outreach on the work and issues we deal with in more strategic and creative ways. INFOCOM is set up to provide an information and education service to support campaigns and advocacy in the region, and in areas that PAN AP focuses one.


COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

The successful candidate is expected to help PAN AP to:

1. Assess, coordinate and oversee development of PAN APs’ organisational communications goals, strategy, structure and systems;
2. Accelerate development of an effective, efficient organisational communications system to generate more support for PAN AP’s goals, objectives and campaigns; as well as support the campaigns of PAN AP partners;
3. Help develop opportunities that leverage our outreach to the general public and other targeted audiences and influence key audiences—including opinion leaders and policy makers, other networks, activists and people’s movements; the mainstream and independent media; and funders;
4. Assist staff in building strategic communication plans that will feed into advocacy campaigns and programme work to meet our mission and program goals;
5. Work closely with PAN Executive and Deputy Exe directors, and program staff, on messaging to promote PAN AP’s work through internal and external print publications, electronic media, other media outlets, and via speaking engagements, events and demonstrations, and other communication opportunities;
6. To research, identify and send out regular information on topics of interest to the global network;
7. Integrate our publications, Website and On-line services, external communications and message delivery opportunities to take full advantage of PAN outputs;
8. Liase with Library Consultants and Staff to maintain and expand the organisations' specialized library and documentation centre;
9. Edit and publish the organisations' newsletter.
10. Develop, facilitate and support a communications team (working in liaison with programme staff; library consultants and staff; and fundraising staff)

MEDIA

The successful candidate is expected to help PAN AP to:

1. Assess, coordinate and oversee development of an effective media relation and outreach program; and help to strategise media plans for PAN AP campaigns and program areas, as well as an organizationally;
2. Serve as primary organisational media liaison—to take and refer media calls, answer journalists’ questions and facilitate interviews with staff;
3. Systemize our capacity to reach; to upgrade and maintain media contacts and outreach systems via phone, fax, email, web, listservs and other channels.
4. Write press releases, coordinate media events, assisting colleagues in generating coverage of our issues, organisation, network and partners.
5. Support PAN spokespersons through development of messages, and hold training for handling media interaction and coverage;

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS TO THE POST-:

1. A Degree Holder, preferably a degree in Library Science or Information Technology with an extensible knowledge in Mass Communications.
2. At least 3 years of media and communication experience; experience in developing and maintaining media relations would be an added advantage.
3. Experience of working in libraries or information centres are an added advantage.
4. Ability to communicate effectively in English.
5. Experience in working with public-interest organisations required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidate should be self directed, flexible and have the ability to work as a team member as well as lead teams.
2. The ability to meet deadlines.
3. Rapid, accurate and compelling writing, and effective interpersonal skills.
4. Bi-lingual candidates strongly preferred; excellent English is essential, with working knowledge of a second language.
5. Commitment to the mission of strengthening our pesticide reform work in local, state, national and international arenas, advocacy for pesticides use reduction, ecological pest management, social justice, sustainable agriculture and global food security and sovereignty.
6. Must be gender and culturally sensitive and aware.
7. Personal or professional knowledge and involvement with relevant social and environmental issues (e.g. pesticides, genetic engineering, sustainable agriculture, international trade and development, public health and / or human rights) are a definite plus.
